Being Totally Connected - Part II

Here is an example of NOT being totally connected. She is clearly excellent technically and she's lovely to look at. But watch her face as she plays. She's clearly uncomfortable in front of the camera and she seems to be doing everything in her power to avoid an emotional and physical connection to what she is playing. It's as if she's purely focusing on the 'technique' and has forgotten that she is making music, somthing that should triggers us emotionally.

We see many people present in a similar fashion to this guitarist. Technically, they know their stuff and the content of their presentation is pretty good. But the way in which it is presented is as if they really don't care about it. In fact, when we give people this feedback they often say to us - well I don't particularly care about it. In which case, why are you presenting it? Find the interesting bits within the content that you do care about, otherwise you are setting yourself up for failure.
