Why High Impact Exists

Critical Moments of Impact

High Impact began in 2005 with the mission to help leaders & managers engage with themselves as powerful tools for communication and, in so doing, develop their ability to have the right impact at critical moments of communication, formal, informal, planned or unplanned, internally or externally focussed, large audiences or a simply a single person in an impromptu meeting at the coffee machine.
Delivering the right impact in these critical moments will depend upon how we feel, communicate & behave as leaders or managers in the moment; failure to inspire, influence or to lead in these moments could otherwise have a detrimental effect on business performance, engagement, confidence or reputation and results.

 

Impact Development

Personal Impact is about the perceptions and legacies we invite, the feelings and shifts in attitude we generate in others. High Impact development is therefore about exploring the numerous facets of our communication styles, even those we are reluctant to deploy either because we believe them to be inappropriate or irrelevant in the business context or because they are “just not me”. So impact work is about exploring oneself as powerful tool for communication beyond simply the message or the spoken word; it is about communication which leaves the right mark!

Sustainable Shifts

Much of Learning and Development work in the corporate world is about enabling shifts in behaviours, aligning with shifts in the organisation and the external environment and also driving necessary shifts and changes needed to stay alive and competitive. Certain behavioural traits which we believe have helped us to succeed in our careers so far need to be challenged or even dropped in favour of other behaviours which will be required to get to the next level in leadership. Exploring and recognizing these is a key part of generating sustainable shifts. It is, therefore a key goal in our seminars.

Many of our clients have their own leadership development frameworks which are specific to their cultures, environments, directions and strategies, these are taken strictly into account when designing programmes. High Impact perspective is that all leadership development should include – insofar as is possible :

  • Elements of self-discovery and self-knowledge.
  • Elements allowing participants to explore key activities of leadership
  • Elements which develop participants capabilities is the essential competencies of leaders.

 

HI Leadership Qualities Development

At High Impact we work extensively with leaders and future leaders of major companies around the world to improve the qualities and the capabilities they need to orientate, inspire, influence, enable and engage those they lead.

We believe that it is the qualities people have which will distinguish them as leaders rather than competencies or skills. There are a handful of core leadership qualities such as purposefulness, fervency, humility and openness which cannot be developed when the mind is dis-located from the physical and the emotional.  When these qualities are stirred in such a way as to emanate outwards from the leader, they can be perceived or felt by others and this will determine whether or not that person will be followed.

 

Connecting Leadership Energies (the Metaphor of the Actor’s Journey)

Therefore connecting at the physical and emotional levels as well as the intellectual level is fundamental to all the work we do. Only in this way can we explore the developmental edges which will lead to new and alternative self-imagery, new realities and to the discovery of where our authentic leadership truly lies.
